2A. Garmin Connect Data Integration

When you choose to connect your Garmin Connect account to Run Diary, we access specific data to provide personalized AI coaching. This section explains what data we access, how we use it, and how we protect it.

2A.1 Data We Access from Garmin Connect

With your explicit authorization, Run Diary requests access to the following Garmin Connect data:

  • Activities: Running workouts including distance, duration, pace, heart rate, cadence, and GPS data
  • Sleep Data: Sleep duration, sleep stages, and sleep quality scores
  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV): Daily HRV measurements and stress levels
  • VO2 Max Estimates: Fitness level estimates calculated by Garmin
  • Training Load: Acute and chronic training load metrics
  • Body Battery / Readiness: Daily energy level measurements

2A.2 Purpose of Garmin Data Usage

We use Garmin Connect data exclusively to provide the following services within Run Diary:

  • AI Training Suggestions: Analyzing your recent workouts, sleep, and recovery metrics to recommend appropriate daily training (aggressive, standard, or recovery options)
  • Dynamic Pace Zone Calculation: Using your recent workout data to continuously recalibrate personalized pace zones that reflect your current fitness level
  • Race Pacing Strategy: Predicting realistic finish times and generating split strategies based on your training history and VO2 Max estimates
  • Context-Aware AI Coaching: Enabling our AI coach to reference your actual training data when answering questions about fatigue, recovery, or training plans

2A.3 Garmin Data Storage and Retention

  • Garmin data is stored securely in Firebase with encryption at rest
  • We retain only the data necessary for providing our services
  • Historical activity data is retained while your account is active
  • You can request deletion of all Garmin-sourced data at any time

2A.4 Garmin Data Sharing

  • Your Garmin data is never sold to third parties
  • Garmin data is processed by Google Gemini AI solely to generate personalized coaching responses
  • No Garmin data is shared with advertisers or marketing platforms
  • Aggregated, anonymized statistics may be used for service improvement

2A.5 Revoking Garmin Access

You can disconnect your Garmin Connect account at any time through Run Diary's settings. Upon disconnection:

  • We immediately stop syncing new data from Garmin Connect
  • Previously synced data remains until you request its deletion
  • You can request complete deletion of all Garmin-sourced data by contacting us at hello@1cll.com
